Innovaciones en la imagenología mamaria: de la mamografía a la tomosíntesis

Resumo

La imageneología mamaria ha experimentado avances significativos en las últimas décadas, transformando el enfoque diagnóstico del cáncer de mama. La mamografía, considerada durante mucho tiempo el estándar de oro en la detección precoz, ha evolucionado con la introducción de tecnologías digitales que mejoran la resolución y reducen las dosis de radiación. Sin embargo, la tomosíntesis mamaria, también conocida como mamografía 3D, representa una innovación clave al permitir una visualización tridimensional del tejido mamario. Esta técnica ofrece ventajas sustanciales sobre la mamografía convencional al reducir la superposición de tejidos y aumentar la detección de lesiones en estadios tempranos, especialmente en mujeres con mamas densas. Además, la tomosíntesis ha demostrado disminuir las tasas de falsos positivos, lo que se traduce en menos biopsias innecesarias y menor ansiedad para las pacientes. A medida que estas tecnologías avanzan, se integran con otras modalidades como la resonancia magnética y el ultrasonido, proporcionando un enfoque más integral y personalizado para el manejo del cáncer de mama. Este artículo revisa críticamente los desarrollos recientes en la imageneología mamaria, evaluando su impacto clínico y futuro potencial en la mejora de los resultados para las pacientes, y discutiendo los desafíos pendientes en su implementación generalizada en la práctica clínica.
