Diagnóstico y manejo de la rosácea: enfoques terapéuticos actuales

Resumo

La rosácea es una enfermedad crónica de la piel que afecta principalmente el rostro, caracterizada por enrojecimiento, pápulas, pústulas y, en algunos casos, engrosamiento de la piel. Su etiología aún no está completamente comprendida, aunque se han identificado factores genéticos, ambientales y disfunciones del sistema inmunológico como posibles desencadenantes. El diagnóstico de la rosácea es clínico y se basa en la evaluación de los signos y síntomas característicos. El manejo de esta afección requiere un enfoque individualizado que considere la gravedad de los síntomas y las necesidades del paciente. Las opciones terapéuticas actuales incluyen tratamientos tópicos como metronidazol, ácido azelaico e ivermectina; así como terapias sistémicas con antibióticos orales y, en casos severos, isotretinoína. Además, los procedimientos láser y de luz pulsada intensa han demostrado eficacia en la reducción del enrojecimiento persistente y las telangiectasias. La educación del paciente sobre los factores desencadenantes y el cuidado de la piel es esencial para un manejo exitoso. Este artículo revisa los avances recientes en el diagnóstico y tratamiento de la rosácea, proporcionando una guía práctica basada en la evidencia disponible.
