Diagnóstico y manejo de fracturas vertebrales por compresión

Las fracturas vertebrales por compresión (FVC) representan una condición prevalente, especialmente en poblaciones de edad avanzada, y están asociadas comúnmente con la osteoporosis. Este artículo de revisión narrativa aborda los aspectos clave del diagnóstico y manejo de estas fracturas, basándose en la literatura más reciente. En cuanto al diagnóstico, se destacan las herramientas clínicas y radiológicas, como la resonancia magnética, que permiten diferenciar entre fracturas agudas y crónicas, así como identificar complicaciones asociadas. El manejo de las FVC incluye estrategias conservadoras, como analgesia, inmovilización y rehabilitación, así como intervenciones quirúrgicas mínimamente invasivas, como la vertebroplastia y cifoplastia, que han mostrado beneficios en casos seleccionados. Además, se discuten las terapias farmacológicas dirigidas a la prevención de fracturas futuras mediante el fortalecimiento óseo. Este análisis enfatiza la importancia de un enfoque multidisciplinario que combine la experiencia de especialistas en ortopedia, reumatología y rehabilitación. Finalmente, se subraya la necesidad de un diagnóstico temprano y un manejo personalizado para optimizar los resultados clínicos y mejorar la calidad de vida de los pacientes afectados por esta condición.
