Avances recientes en la resonancia magnética para el diagnóstico de enfermedades hepáticas

La resonancia magnética (RM) ha emergido como una herramienta fundamental en el diagnóstico y manejo de las enfermedades hepáticas debido a su capacidad para proporcionar imágenes detalladas y no invasivas del hígado. En los últimos años, se han logrado avances significativos en las técnicas de RM, incluyendo el desarrollo de secuencias específicas como la elastografía por RM, que permite evaluar la rigidez hepática y, por ende, detectar y cuantificar la fibrosis. Además, la implementación de técnicas de imagen ponderada por difusión y espectroscopia por RM ha mejorado la caracterización de lesiones focales y la evaluación de la esteatosis hepática. Estas innovaciones han permitido una detección más temprana y precisa de patologías como la enfermedad por hígado graso no alcohólico, la cirrosis y los tumores hepáticos, facilitando una toma de decisiones clínicas más informada. Asimismo, los avances en la inteligencia artificial y el procesamiento de imágenes han potenciado la capacidad de análisis automatizado, reduciendo la variabilidad interobservador. Este artículo revisa los desarrollos recientes en la RM aplicada al hígado, destacando su impacto en el diagnóstico, pronóstico y monitoreo de las enfermedades hepáticas, así como las perspectivas futuras en este campo en constante evolución.
